Mrs. Micikas
I enjoyed listening to Mrs. Micikas' story, I think that no one in our school can imagine what it's like to live in that sort of an atmosphere. I agree with what Mrs. Meyer said that it is comforting to know that a person of that sort of intelligence not only came to know God, but walked away and then came back because it was the only really solid thing to stand on. It's people like Mrs. Micikas that make me wonder how anyone who claims to be more intelligent because of their lack of faith can say they are more intelligent than the Christians. Anyone who calls all Christians stupid, I point you toward Micikas.

Play
The play we went to was possibly the worst play i've ever been to. Which is including middle school plays. The actors weren't bad and i don't blame them at all for the bad writing. Its not good when everyone is looking around at each other wondering if everyone else is as confused as they are. I will admit that i think they did a better job bringing it together in the middle but the beginning and end were really bad. It's hard to be a great actor when your dealing with something that you just have to know that no one is appreciating fully.

Smells like Denver Chrisrtian Spirit!
I feel like homecoming week, as a student, is very worthwhile.....we get shorter periods we get to laugh....what's not to like. I feel like there is very little tradition in our homecoming. I think it would be better if there was but I think when we cut out the half days of working on our activities it sucked a lot of the fun out of it. I think homecoming tries to create unity throughout the classes while it may accomplish this within the freshman, sophomore, junior and senior classes, i think it may temporarily tear the school, as a whole, apart.

Movie Review-The Hurt Locker
The hurt locker portrays pacifism in that the people involved in war are universally negatively affected. It shows this through the main character's attempts to go back into a normal life, which doesn't work and he responds to this by going back into the warzone. He decides that he can only function in a war atmosphere. He also shows the negative affects of war through his reckless behavior, which shows that he really doesn't care whether he lives of he dies.
There is also the example of the child that the terrorists put the bomb into. This child was an innocent bystander but still was killed and turned into an agent of war.
I do agree that there are very little upsides to war. But I wouldn't agree that it is universally negative, I think that in order to have a somewhat "just" war there has to be an upside to someone. While there are serious consequences to every war, I would like to believe that in virtually every war someone is positively affected (probably not true at all but i said that's what i would LIKE to believe).

That one place that we ate at that I can't remember the name of.
The restaraunt reminded me of one of my favorite restaurants in Boulder which is Ethiopian food. The atmosphere seemed very authentic. With a lot of the restaurants that have food like that sometimes i feel that they get too into the American culture instead of really showing their countries culture.

Song
I would say that my musical taste is very eclectic, but as far as an artist that makes you think you can't really beat Brett Dennen. While I wouldn't exactly call his lyrics Christian, they have an overall message that i think we all need to hear. A couple of these lines expecially strike me, one being "I wonder how so many can be in so much pain, while others don't seem to feel a thing." This interests me because it makes me question whether or not we should or do care for people enough.
The other verse that interests me is the last. I think that he is trying to say something about the consumerism that seems to....consume(?) Americans today. This is an issue that i somewhat agree with; but also, I believe that it sometimes gets blown way out of proportion. I think that at some point all of us will need to just lay down and stare a hole in the sky wondering where we go when we die. Now that is not to say that we're all going to become non-Christians and turn away from our faith. But i do believe that everyone needs to think about what exactly they believe. I think this song is pretty darn fantastic!
When I heard the news, my heart fell on the floor.
I was on a plane on my way to Baltimore.
In these troubled times it's hard enough as it is.
My soul has a known a better life than this.
I wonder how so many can be in so much pain, while others don't seem to feel a thing.
Then I curse my whiteness and I get so damn depressed.
In a world of suffering, why should I be so blessed?
I heard about a women who lives in Colorado.
She built a monument of sorts behind the garage door,
where everyday she prays for all whom are born
and all whose souls have passed on.
Sometimes my trouble gets so thick, I can't see how I'm gonna get through it.
But, then I'd rather be stuck up in a tree then be tied to it.
There is so much more.
I don't feel comfortable with the way my clothes fit.
I cant get used to my bodys limits.
I got some fancy shoes to try and kick away these blues.
They cost a lot of money but they arent worth a thing.
I wanna free my feet from the broken glass and concrete.
I need to get out of this city.
Lay upon the ground stare a hole in the sky, wondering where I go when I die
